A little about me...
My name is Paula and I wear many hats. I am an actress but I am also a photographer and graphic artist. In case you are wondering about the Michigan Girl tab, I moved a few years ago from Michigan to the Las Vegas area and I documented the experience. I'm still adjusting... My videos hopefully show the transition from Midwest to Southwest.
I am an alumni of Grand Valley State University were I studied photography and design and have experience working with all the Adobe Creative Suite programs. Even though I didn't major in it, I took quite a few theatre classes as well and was involved in several productions. I love taking pictures, but I also find that I enjoy helping people restore memories from their own collections. I started restoring photographs and preserving memories while I was still in college, and love seeing the looks on people's faces when they receive the finished product. Not all family memories are stored in the most optimal conditions and printed photos will begin to deteriorate if the proper care is not given. It's my goal to give new life to these memories and a way that family members can share them for years to come as a restored digital file.
I worked for 8 years as a graphic and web designer for the Monroe County Library System. I really enjoyed creating images and printed work to promote all of the wonderful things they provide to the community. I am now working for the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District in Reader Services/Reference and love being able to help people find the information they need. I am very pro library. If you go to your local library, you will see all of the wonderful things that they can provide you...FOR FREE!!!! I love figuring out what is needed and being able to provide it to the staff and patrons.
As for acting, I have been in quite a few stage plays over the years, but I am looking to expand into the film market. Now that I'm closer to the action, I'm hoping to fulfill that dream. Before I moved, I worked on the set of a movie filmed in Detroit and fell in love with the process. Although, I will never get over the feeling of standing in front of a full theater and listening to their applause. One of my favorite recent roles was Rachel in Inherit the Wind. It was a challenging role but also was very cathartic having to deal with such a wide range of emotions. I've also recently had the opportunity to stretch my comedic skills here in Las Vegas by portraying Gwendolyn Pigeon in The Odd Couple. We actually got applause after our part of the scene was over even though the scene wasn't finished yet. It will always be a good memory in my theatrical experience.
Now that I feel like I've written a small novel about myself, I hope you know more about me.
Working for libraries also means that I am an avid reader and you can see what I'm reading now and recommend on my Goodreads.com page.
